Richard Bona

               Born on October 28, 1967 Bona Pinder Yayumayalolo (Richard Bona) is a Cameroon jazz bassist based in the U.S. His father was a praise singer and storyteller (griot) and his mum a singer. Born into a family of musicians, he started playing the balafon at the age of four. At the age of 22, Bona left for Germany to study music. He later moved to France and then the US where he currently resides. In 1999, Bona released his debut album titled Scenes from My Life. Some of his other albums are;

In 2005 Bona’s fourth solo album Tiki was nominated for Best Contemporary World Music Album at the 49th Grammy Awards. With Laurent Dantonioin, Bona opened Club Bonafide in 2015.
